Once owned and managed by the Audy-Arcaute family, the property was sadly abandoned for a number of years. In 2005 the estate was purchased by the Castéja family, and with investment and re-structuring the quality of the wine has greatly improved to where it should be. It is proudly BCAP group’s latest acquisition.
The vineyards of Château La Croix du Casse is located in the south of Pomerol, one of the appellation’s first terroirs. With 9.5 hectares of vines planted with the grape varieties that are representative of the appellation’s wines: 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Its terroir of sandy gravel and iron dirt soil produce quality grapes.

The team at Château La Croix du Casse is the same as that at Château TrotteVieille, 1er Grand Cru Classé Saint Emilion Grand Cru. With the management of Philippe Castéja, and his experience at TrotteVieille and Domaine de l’Eglise, the team brings out the best in the wines of La Croix du Casse.
Château La Croix du Casse and its second wine, Les Chemins de la Croix du Casse, AOC Pomerol, are pleasant, easy-drinking wines with lovely fruit and floral notes.
